West Lawrence Neighborhood Association:   Northwest Area

Sixth Street and Stoneridge Drive:

In about January 2005, developer Michael Stultz acquired the land on the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Stoneridge Drive (extended).   In the spring of 2005, he proposed rezoning for the purpose of development.   Because of both neighborhood and City Planning Department concerns, the neighbors held meetings with Mr. Stultz and his architect, Paul Werner.   Although not all the issues were resolved in those meetings, they led to a final rezoning which was more satisfactory than the initial proposal, particularly to those residents whose property bordered Mr. Stultz's property.   We are pleased that Mr. Stultz and Mr. Werner included the neighbors in the discussion of their plans for the area.

Stoneridge North:

Land on the west side of Stoneridge Drive (extended) was rezoned and platted in 2005 for the development of a subdivision called Stoneridge North.   We are pleased that the developers, Stoneridge Holdings, L.L.C., included the neighbors in the discussion of their plans for the area.

Intersection of Sixth Street and K-10:

The First United Methodist Church owns a large tract of land on the southwest corner of Sixth Street and K-10.   They have recently shared their plans with us.   These include church buildings and large areas of green space which should be pleasing to the neighborhood.
