West Lawrence Neighborhood Association:   General Information


The West Lawrence Neighborhood Association, Inc. is a voluntary association of residents who are concerned with the development, improvement and maintenance of the area within the City of Lawrence which is west of Wakarusa Drive and north of 23rd Street.   As stated in the Bylaws, the purposes of the association include (a) informing the residents of events which affect their interests, (b) promoting their interests outside the Association's area, (c) encouraging the maintenance and improvement of property values, (d) enhancing the safety and well being of the residents and visitors and (e) encouraging participation in activities which promote the unity and quality of the neighborhood.

The Association became a non-profit Kansas corporation (West Lawrence Neighborhood Association, Incorporated) on February 21, 2003.   The initial Corporation directors were Alan Cowles, Paula Pepin and Susan Siler.   The current Corporation directors are Sally Cloar, Susan Chi, Alan Cowles, Mark O'Lear and Harris Tate.   The Corporation's registered office is at 1121 Stoneridge Drive, Lawrence, Kansas 66049-4772 and the registered agent is Alan Cowles.   An Annual Meeting of the members is held each April.  The directors elect officers and replace them as needed.   The current officers and their phone numbers are:

The Association's directors meet as the need arises.   All are invited to attend.   Notices of meetings will be posted on this web site.

The next Annual Meeting of the Association probably will be held on a Saturday in April or May 2010.   Details will be posted in the spring of 2010.

Membership is open to all who support the purposes of the Association.   To become a member of the Association a person need only express an interest in being listed as a member and notify the Secretary, Sally Cloar (Sally0710@sunflower.com or 312-8117).   There are currently no dues.   Contributions are welcome.
